In Grove Park, we’re breaking the mold.
Though typically CommuniCare will retrofit an existing facility, in Grove Park, we will build from the ground up a state-of-the-art, best-in-class healthcare facility with approximately 140 beds for local residents who require skilled nursing care. CommuniCare will deliver and operate a high-quality facility that complements neighboring homes, existing neighborhood assets, and enhances the surrounding community. And we will do it in partnership with the community.

Serving the health and wellness of our community is why we do what we do at CommuniCare.
As a family-owned and operated company for more than 40 years, family and heart are woven into every aspect of our continuum of care. Our mission, to serve with pride, is evident in the quality of care our residents, families and community partners have come to expect and trust. We remain dedicated to improving the lives of seniors in Baltimore City and continue to raise the bar and innovate wherever possible to deliver a higher quality of life for those far beyond our facilities. Because of this, our facilities are a better place for residents to live, patients to stay, employees to work and families to heal.
We’re already planning on building community space in the Grove Park Healthcare Center that would serve as a meeting center, polling place, or just as an extension of the community. Over the next several months and beyond we will be working alongside of and learning from community members as to what resources are needed most. From programming for seniors, opportunities for youth mentorship, to health services for neighborhood residents, our goal is to enhance the experience of our residents and our neighbors.
Proven leaders in cutting-edge, compassionate care and community stewardship.
Our mission is to reach out with our hearts and touch the lives of others; to restore health and wellness to those in need of rehabilitation or long-term care; to provide best-in-class care and customer service, bringing quality of life to the people we serve with purpose, and caring with pride.
CommuniCare is one of the largest providers of Senior Care Services in Maryland and across the country.
Across Maryland, our residents and their families rely on CommuniCare for a broad range of special care for seniors. From short-term rehabilitation to assisted living, our compassionate caregivers and trusted team of medical experts meet our residents where they are and deliver high-quality medical services.
CommuniCare has been part of the Maryland community for 15 years, operating 19 centers throughout the state. What we hear time and again is that our residents are grateful when they get to age in comfort in their own communities. That’s what makes our model of residential care so special: whether it’s the ability to recover from an injury right in your own neighborhood or to get long-term supportive care close to those who matter most, CommuniCare makes it possible to age in place.

In short, there is estimated to be less traffic with the redevelopment of the school into a skilled nursing facility. An independent traffic engineer hired to perform a traffic impact study found that “Compared to the previous land use, this redevelopment will generate 172 less trips during the AM peak hours and 22 less trips during the PM peak hours.”

The addition of this new facility will generate employment opportunities for approximately 200 Baltimore City residents as well as internship and training opportunities for those interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare industry. Job opportunities range from a variety of educational levels to include positions available in environmental services/plant operations and maintenance, dining services, nursing, administration, medical records, physician services (physicians and physician extenders), etc. CommuniCare also regularly conducts Nurse Aide training programs to develop our nursing assistant teams, and will be seeking opportunities with local educational institutions to provide hiring opportunities.

We will follow the normal pre-construction entitlement process that will include additional meetings for feedback from the community. The total construction process can take anywhere from 18-24 months through the completion of the building depending on approvals, etc. We also will conduct additional community outreach/meetings during this timeframe in order to keep the community apprised of our progress. In addition, we have established numerous communication streams including this website, Facebook page, 1-800 number and a community forum email. Those are the best places to check for updates and seek additional information about the project.
